Lady’s
Finger (Okra)
 |
Okra, also known as bamia, bindi, bhindi,
lady's finger, and gumbo, is a member of
the cotton (Mallow) family. It is used as
an ingredient in many recipes and is especially
popular with cooks who add it to soups, stews,
and gumbos. This is because okra produces
a sticky juice that works as a natural thickening
agent. Okra can also be boiled, steamed,
baked, grilled, microwaved, and used in stir-fries. |

Laksa Plant
 |
The plant is strongly peppery in taste
and used by the Chinese to flavor “laksa” and
by the Malays as a flavoring in dishes. |
|
Lavender
 |
Commonly used in aromatherapy for its pleasant
fragrance and soothing quality, it can be
found in a wide range of bath, body and personal
comfort products.Used in rubbing oils for
sore joints. An infusion can be used as a
cold compress for headaches. Lavender bags
are used for linen and Lavender is again
being used in cooking, for example in ice
cream and biscuits. |

Lemon Balm

Fresh leaves for summer drinks and fruit
cups, as tea and tisane, in jam, milk puddings,
salad dressings, or as a substitute for grated
lemon peel in a recipe. |

Lime
 |
This citrus fruit is use for drink and
seasoning. |

Marigold
 |
Petals, in place of saffron in many recipes,
especially rice dishes, soups eggs, cheese,
meat casseroles, custard, puddings, cakes,
salads and to make wine leaves sparingly
in salads. |

Miraculous Berry
 |
A relatively tasteless berry with an amazing
side-effect. After eating one miracle fruit,
sour things will instantly taste sweet. Eating
even the sourest of lemons, one will taste
only sugary sweetness. |

Mugwort
 |
Mugwort is only occasionally used as a
spice. It’s slightly bitter taste fits
best to fat fish or meat; occasionally, young
mugwort leaves are eaten raw as a salad. |

milk products. Origanum oil is used as a
food flavor and also as a fragrance component
in soaps, detergents and perfumes. |

Pumpkin
|
The fruit is prepared in a variety of ways

|
Radish probably is native from southern
Asia. It has been used for medicinal purposes
by the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Chinese.Radish
stimulates the appetite and the digestion.
The juice of the black radish is drunk to
counter gassy indigestion and constipation.
Consuming radish generally results in improved
digestion, but some people are sensitive
to its acridity and strong action. In China,
radish is eaten to relieve abdominal distention. |

Rock Melon

Grown for its fruits. Its smell will indicate
flavor and ripeness. The rockmelon should
be ripened at room temperature. |

 |
Arugula is mainly used as a salad green.
It has an assertive, pungent, spicy, peppery,

of radish or horseradish. |

|
Rue is mostly used as an ornamental plant
in rock gardens and herb gardens. It has
been also used as a medicine for earaches,
an insect repellent, and an herb for flavoring
foods. Some processed foods are flavored
with rue. Some cosmetics and perfumes also
contain rue. |
